Life's Lessons

This a something I posted on my Spark Page back in April. For those of you who are not familiar with what a 'Spark Page' is, it is similar to FaceBook or MySpace but for fitness.
I had something else that I wanted to post but this subject has been at the fore front of your minds as one of our coworkers was carried out on a stretcher yesterday after having a seizure and heart attack. He is 39 years old...Married...3 kids.

I apologize for the rant...I wrote this less than two weeks after Grandma died....

My Grandma just passed away Easter Sunday. My family is very close as I have shared on my page. This has been very difficult for our whole family.

My husband and I decided to start a tradition to have dinner with Grandpa every Thursday. Everyone comes over and brings something and we visit. So we stopped at the cemetery to fix/water Gma's flowers, then continued on to Gpa's.

Then I got to thinking, "Don't you think it's sad how we decide to do these things when something bad happens? When Gma was alive we went to dinner once a month! And I rarely brought her flowers"

Part of the reason I'm DONE has to do with Gma's passing. She passed of congestive heart failure at 72 and Gpa spent most of the last year taking care of her while her health was failing. It was hard to see her go through that.....It was hard to see him go through it too. To see the heartache he feels losing his wife after 35 years of marriage.

I learned that I can not take good health for granted. I see the love my grandparents had for each other. Don't wait until you experience failing health or witness it in others to Live. Like that saying, 'Live like you were dying!' Forget that! We're all gonna die!

Tomorrow is not promised to any of us, young or old. Healthy or unhealthy. Everything can change in a blink of an eye. I know I had to learn the hard way. Why is that? When someone dies we are faced with the reality of death and we change, but only for a short time. Then life catches up with us and we go on until the next time.

It makes me realize, the dishes in the sink....won't matter in the end.
The names I acquire the longer I live (Wife, Mommy, Sister, Tete, daughter, Granddaughter) are much more important than my PHD in the end. No one writes.......Liane...Born...Died...PHD!
The lives I touch today and the impact (positive or negative, my choice)that I make on those I come in contact with are what matter.

I look at my husband and I think, "My God, one day that will be us." How is it possible to be so in love with someone, that you can't see where one ends and the other begins. I realize that our legacy is our love story. The love we leave for our children and grandchildren to witness and lessons we teach each other are what truly make a difference.

Thanks for listening,

These are the days I live for

Last night I got to go to the game with the truest Dodger fan I know-my baby brother. Win for big Blue! Great plays! Home run! Good crowd! Garlic fries and family! What more could you ask for!

( I apologize in advance..there are no pictures. I was having way too much fun and left my camera in the house. Sorry.)

Today we went to Grandpa's house. The girls and I got there around 3. Grandpa treated us to fish taco Wednesday at this hole in the wall Mexican restaurant he found. I know....don't ask. We dropped by Jake's work to say hey and feed him. Uncle Jesse was waiting for us when we got back. They swam while I picked another beautiful crop of tomatoes and peppers from the garden. Grandpa was so excited to show me all of the plants. Then Mom, Sarina, Avi, Jake, Uncle George, Michael and Mandy showed up and we had a party! Well, not exactly, but we all swam and had fun 'til it was dark. We put Jesse's surf board in the pool and took turns trying to get up on it.

At the end of the night while I was carrying Bella into the house, I could hear her singing softly. It was her own made up song about the events of the day. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard. These are the days I live for.
